End of Season Fast Approaching
After going almost 4 months undefeated we all knew that it had to end somewhere and it happened eventually on 20 July when we met a strong Peterborough team on their home turf. We’ve since lost another 3 matches but we are still fighting for top position on the league ladder and are nailed in for a place in the playoffs.
The weather will be the deciding factor on whether we can finish the year on top or not. If we can get our remaining fixtures completed without a rainoff we should be in a position to choose our opposing teams that we’d like to face in the playoffs but it’s looking increasingly like we are going to run out of time.
However, the 2014 record breaking Monarchs are still confident that we stand a really good chance to finish the year as league champions.
I’ve been fortunate to be able to continue to ride in Denmark and have been representing the Esbjerg Speedway Club on a weekly basis. This team is also very strong and like the Monarchs, is fighting for top spot on the Danish Extraleague ladder. I’ve been really happy with my performances and glad to have been given the opportunity to race in Denmark this season. The extra racing on different tracks is great for my development and I can see that also improves my performance in the UK.
I’ve made some more guest appearances in the Elite League and have had another couple this week guesting for the Coventry Bees against the Belle Vue Aces at their home track. My first outing on Monday was in the 3rd heat leader position which I knew would be very challenging for me at this level. Fortunately, I’m becoming a bit more familiar with the Belle Vue track now having ridden there several times before and it’s a track I enjoy riding. This showed on Monday when I scored 8+1 points and managed 2 heat wins including advantages over Belle Vue’s top 3 riders. I hope this form continues when I again guest for them on Thursday at Coventry.
A copy of the race report can be accessed via the Coventry Bees website.
I’m very grateful for the opportunity to race in the more demanding league and hope that some of the Elite League clubs might start looking at me with a view to including me in their teams for next year.
