Max successfully defends 2011 Victorian Junior 125ccc Title
Yesterday 14 April, 2012 I headed to Broadford to defend the 2010 Victorian Title in the 125cc junior speedway event and managed to bring take the trophy back home with me.
This event was scheduled to take place in December and again in February but due to weather conditions was postponed until yesterday and provided the guys with an opportunity to test out the newly constructed junior track at Broadford. The track was in great condition and made for some pretty close racing.
Also in attendance was Leigh and Kylie Adams who made the trip from Mildura to support their son Declan who was racing. It was great to see Leigh there to offer some invaluable advice and encouragement to the junior riders.
I finished the heats on the maximum 15 points and managed a great start in the final. I got to the first corner in the lead and held that position throughout the race to take the chequered flag. The other three riders came over the line close behind with Mildura’s Cooper Riordan taking 2nd, South Australian Dakota Ballantye 3rd and Jordy Stewart 4th.
It was great to finish my time in the Junior ranks with the Victorian, South Australian, New South Wales and Queensland Junior 125cc Titles. My objective at the beginning of the year was to do well in the State Title events and after thinking about my year, I realised that I’d won all 2011 State Titles without dropping a heat. It’s difficult to continually put in consistent rides as so many things can go wrong so I’m really happy with the way my year went.
