The 2016 Season Begins

The 2016 season has commenced but not quite like we planned.  Unfortunately, the opening of Belle Vue’s new National Speedway Stadium, which was scheduled for 19 March, did not go ahead as planned due to a problem with a section of the track.  This was a huge disappointment for the Belle Vue Management who have done so much work to get this amazing venue completed in time for the grand opening.  It was also devastating for the 6,000 fans that had been looking forward to seeing some great racing by a field of riders that included some of the best in the world.   This is an unfortunate situation that will be resolved soon and we can look forward to a bright future at this fantastic venue.

I competed in my first meeting of the season last night at Chris Harris’ Testimonial meeting at Coventry.  It was a great opportunity to try out my equipment prior to the start of league racing which is due to commence on Friday (subject to the the BV track being ready).  I was honoured to be asked to participate in the testimonial for Chris who is a legend of the sport in the UK and I hope he had a good night.

I’ve had the Team Presentation at Rybnik in Poland on 5 March which was great to be a part of  and I hope to head out there soon for some practice on their newly renovated track too.
