May has been an incredibly exciting month for me. Although we’ve only had one meeting for Belle Vue (with one rain off), now that I’ve had my visa issues resolved and can travel outside the UK, I’ve been able to make myself available to race for my teams in Denmark, Poland and Sweden. I’ve been really happy with how things have gone and scored consistently for my teams resulting in some very good meetings. In both my Swedish meetings I’ve top scored for my team, Gnisotorna and have come close on both occasions for Region Varde Elite Sports in Denmark as well. This week I had my first appearance for Rybnik in Poland and was satisfied with my performance there too. You can use the links provided to the individual Club websites to check the news, results and photos or my individual results will be posted on my results page after each meeting.
Speedway Best Pairs Cup
On the back of my performance early in May in the GP Qualifier event, I was invited to represent Australia in the final round of the Speedway Best Pairs Cup. Two representatives from each country fight it out for the title of best pairs and although I only managed 2 points, it was a huge honour to ride for Australia and a great learning experience against the world’s best riders.
World Cup Squad
For the second year running I’ve been named in the 10 man Australian Squad for the Speedway World Cup which is pretty cool. From this squad 4 riders will be invited to represent Australia in the World Cup Challenge. With 3 Australian GP riders also in the squad it will be difficult to get that final spot but I’m really happy to be considered to be one of the top 10 Australian riders currently competing overseas. Final team announcement will be out soon.
Later this month I’ve got the qualifying event for the World Under 21 individual Championships so that’s my next big event that I have on my radar. It is the one that I have earmarked as an event that I hope to do really well in this year so fingers crossed that my current form continues.
