Heading North for Some Racing

On Christmas Day we packed up and headed north to Kurri Kurri for our first ride on the track this season. I rode in the support races for the Jason Crump invitational meeting which provided me with some valuable time on the track in preparation for the Australian Title qualifier event which was scheduled for 3rd January.

It as a good opportunity to play with the set up of the bike and get things working the way I wanted.

The following night we went to Gosford where they have reopened their track after a couple of years and a quality field provided some great racing. I’m still having some difficulties with my gating which is making each race challenging but apart from that I’m happy with how it’s all going and I seem to be improving with each outing.

There was a teams match organised between Kurri Kurri and Gosford on 28 December and I was asked to represent the Gosford team. I was put in the reserve position which gave me 7 rides and although the racing was close, Kurri Kurri were the victors on this occasion.

These meetings provided me with a good opportunity to race against many of the Australians that I haven’t raced against since my return but would be facing in the Title meetings so was a good chance to see how I was going. There is still room for improvements but on the whole I think I’m going OK.
