Final Round – Aussie Titles, Gillman SA

The 3rd and final round of the Australian 500cc Senoir Title event was held on Saturday 11 January at Gillman in Adelaide.

I had ridden pretty consistently throughout the three rounds and this was probably my best performance.  I did quite well throughout my heats, well enough to finish in 5th position which ensured a place in the semi final.  With everyone fighting really hard for the last spot in the final it was always going to be tough and everyone got a good start which meant there was a lot of crowding in the first corner.  Unfortunately, I was squeezed out a bit, hit a rut and came off.  This meant that I was excluded from a rerun and my night was over.

Although I was disappointed not to complete this race and to contest for a spot in the final with the top 4 riders, I was really happy with my night and finished in 7th place.  That result, together with the 8th and 9th that I had got in the previous rounds, meant that I finished equal 8th with Sam Masters, one of my Edinburgh team mates.  This meant that I had achieved the goal I set myself at the start of the series so I’m rapt to have finished my first Aussie Titles in the top 8 of the field.
