Aussie Title Qualifier and 1st round

After the meetings it was back home for a couple of days before the return 9 hr trip to Kurri Kurri for the Senior Australian 500cc qualifier. From the 16 rider lineup only the first 8 would get the opportunity to contest the Title together with the 8 riders already seeded straight in.

I had a good night and after winning one race, getting 2nd in my 4 remaining heats and finishing with 11 points, I was one of the lucky riders to qualify.

I had really wanted to do well as one of my goals for the summer season was to qualify for my first appearance at a Senior Australian Title meeting so I was stoked to get through.  The Aussie Title field is largely represented by some of Australia’s top international riders so to be a part of that field is pretty exciting for me.

Going into the first round I was confident that I had the bike set up pretty well for the conditions at the Kurri track and my riding seemed to improve with each heat. I started with two third places followed by two seconds putting me on 6 points. I was happy with that but my final heat was the best ride of the night for me and I won it which put me on 9 points. This was equal on points with two other riders but I missed out on a spot in the B final through a countback. That was unfortunate as to appear in a B final at the Australian Titles would be a huge achievement for me but, there’s still two rounds to go so you never know what can happen in speedway.

We move to Undera in Victoria for the 2nd round on Wednesday followed by the final round to be held at Gillman in Adelaide on Saturday 11th. Hopefully I can maintain some consistent results.
