Berwick v Edinburgh

Last night was my first appearance as a Monarch and I was excited to finally get on to do some riding and give my bikes a run.

The team headed to Berwick to hold the first meet against the Bandits on their home track.  I’ve ridden some second half rides here in the past but this was my first actual race at the venue.  I was paired with fellow Monarch Theo Pjiper who is a very solid performer, thankfully, as I had a fall in my first outing whilst running third.  The night didn’t get much better with me finishing my final three heats coming up the rear which meant I completed my first ever race meeting with no points.  The rest of the team put in some great rides, particularly Craig Cook, Claus Vissing and  Jozsef Tabaka and we finished just two points behind the Bandits.  The Bandits are a great side and our next match against them is in a few weeks at our home track, Armadale, and it will be interesting to see how we go then after a couple more meetings under our belt.

I’m confident that with the first meeting completed my performances will improve and hope to be able to get some practices in before next Friday’s meet against the Glasgow Tigers at Armadale.
