Week at the AIS

Together with 19 other road, speedway and dirt track riders, I attended a week long training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport early in November. This camp was designed to offer guidance and support for riders from all disciplines in the best way to achieve maximum performance on and off the bike.

We had a particularly strenuous week in which we were assessed on our fitness levels, endurance, reflexes and were shown ways to develop our overall strength and mental toughness.

We worked from daylight to dusk and had some workshops thrown in which gave us ideas on diet, recovery, training programs and also tips on how to deal with the psychological hurdles that we might have to face.

Overall it was a good week and I have taken on board much of the information that was provided. I also had a great time mixing with a good bunch of guys.
