On to the 500cc in the UK
The Junior World Titles are finished and I’ve packed up my 85cc and returned it to KL Support in Denmark and headed off to the UK to do some second half rides with my 500cc bike that I’ve put together with the help of Kristian.
Dad and I had a pretty busy week driving from Denmark and heading across to the UK and having my first 500 ride on my new bike at Edinburgh. From there we headed to Berwick, Mildenhall, Wolverhampton, Kings Lynn, Peterborough, Coventry, Rye House and Glasgow having second half rides to get some track time on my bike. I’ve been really happy with how things have gone and met some really interesting and helpful people along the way.
After Dad headed back to Australia I returned to KL Support at Denmark to spend some more time with Kristian and his family. I was fortunate to be able to spend a weekend riding at Outrup and participating in a coaching session with Jan O Pedersen who has given me lots of tips on how to improve my racing. He was really encouraging and it was pretty exciting to get some track time with him too.
Although I’ll be pretty sad to leave Denmark it’s time for me to hit the road again this week to head back to Edinburgh. The time that I’ve spent at Outrup has been great I can’t thank Kristian, Maria, Anna, Jens and Ellen Lund enough for making my stay so much fun. I’ve learnt heaps from them and met so many great people in Denmark. They’ve been the best hosts and I hope that I can get back to Denmark to visit my Danish family again next year (or repay their hospitality some time in Australia).
I’ve been invited to participate in Matthew Wethers’ Testimonial on Friday 17th August which marks his 10th anniversary with the Monarchs. This is a great tribute to Matthew and celebrates his really successful career with the Club. This will be my first race on the 500cc bike and I’m really excited to have been included on the start list along side Matthew whose family have been big supporters of mine in Australia.
