Dicing in Denmark
Racing at Outrup
Since my last post I’ve been pretty busy. I’ve continued to get some good results for the Grinsted club and was really surprised to find that I am currently on top of the average points score ladder for the juniors in Denmark. I competed in the Nicki Pedersen Cup last weekend which was scheduled to run for two days. The standard of racing was really good on the first day and I achieved two first places, one second and two thirds giving me 10 points and putting me in equal 4th place. I was really looking to improve on this the next day but due to bad weather conditions, the race had to be called after the first day.
With no second day of racing this actually gave me some time to get to Sweden to take part in the scheduled practice session at Vetlanda where the Youth Gold Trophy is being run. This allowed me to test my bike and ensure that the set up would be right for the Championships which are on next week. I was pretty happy with my practice and all the juniors in attendance were introduced to the crowd that were there to see the senior’s race. Highlight for me was meeting Australia’s Jason Crump who was racing at Vetlanda with his home club.
Whilst I’ve been in Outrup with Kristian Lund and his family, I’ve been really lucky to be able to spend some time in the KL Support workshop with Kristian. He has given me open slather in his workshop to build up my dream 500cc bike which has been a whole lot of fun. He has so much really cool stuff here and I’ve now got this beautiful 500cc bike that I will be taking with me to ride in the UK after the Championships. I can’t thank him enough for the generosity he has shown me whilst I’ve been here. He has helped me so much and I’ve had a great time staying with his parents Jens and Ellen who have welcomed me into their home and really looked after me. I will definitely have to come back some time.
My dad and I will be heading off to Sweden again early next week to get underway with the Youth Gold Trophy and I’m getting pretty excited about it.
Lets go racing!
