First Race Back

Leigh Adams Cup – 10 September, 2011

After my overseas trip I’ve had a bit of a break and my first race back heading into a pretty heavy schedule of racing to the end of the year was the Leigh Adams Cup which was run at Mildura.

A field of 15 riders who travelled from around Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia contested the event. We were surprised and excited with the appearance of Leigh Adams who had come to watch. This was his first weekend visit home to Mildura since his recent accident.

After the four rounds of racing, Cooper Riordan top scored with 12 points, closely followed by Jordan Paver and I on 11 and Brady Kurtz and Dakota Ballantyne on 8 points. The final saw a line up of Cooper in Red, me in Blue, Jordan in White and Brady in Yellow.

I got off the gate quickly and lead into the first corner and managed to ride a really consistent race to hold off the rest of the field until the finish. I was really excited to do well at this event being my first one back and also having Leigh there to watch the kids in the cup named after him was pretty special.

Everyone stayed around to watch Leigh make the presentations to the place getters who were honoured to accept their trophies from the retired champion.
